Sometimes you encounter situations so terrible that you can't help but burst out chuckling. It's like your brain tries to process the sheer extent of unadulterated absurdity and just gives up, opting for laughter as a coping defense.

After all is said and done, you are left with a sense of utter perplexity. You question about the purpose of it all. Was this some kind of twisted art experiment?
Or were we just simply unfortunate enough to witness this spectacle unfold?

Dreadful Day Ever
It all started with a terrible case of morning hair. I couldn't figure it to look presentable. As I was hurrying out the door, I fell and landed all over my new shoes. To make matters worse, I was extremely behind schedule for work.

A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to throw your hands up.
